WRITE YOUR SENATORS! Every day my kids’ school sends anguish-filled emails asking us to help save its charter. They’ve never needed us before except to donate money and give food to staff. Apparently, we’re essential allies now. “They’re JUST parents,” the board chair crowed last year, confirming his take on our value. The about-face is entertaining. I wonder if they really want us to write senators that the school has refused a PTO for 6 years, received a damning forensic audit, is suing a parent who dared to ask questions (7.5M), tweaks graduation percentages, and doesn’t believe abused girl athletes.
